Bolivian rock salt has been lying on the high plains of the Andes Mountains in western Bolivia for millions of years and is protected from environmental influences by a thick volcanic layer, pink in colour it resembles a rose quartz stone and is harvested by hand. The rose salt is still transported to the lowlands via the ancient caravan paths of the Incas. Bolivian rose salt contains numerous minerals, such as calcium, potassium and iron which gives the salt its pink colour. These minerals give the rock salt a pure, natural and mild taste., the salt can be used with poultry, fish, meat and vegetable dishes.
