A beautiful tree with really tasty leaves! Otherwise known as the Chinese Mahogany tree, this deciduous, often multi-stemmed variety has pretty, salmon red leaves turning green in summer and white flowers. What is little known is that you can eat the leaves and they taste exactly like beef and onion crisps! Their young tender leaves can be eaten raw in salads or cooked in stir-frys and can also be dried and used as a seasoning. Final height 8 – 12 meters in 10 – 20 years if planted in the ground.
